OxyLED® MD20 Super Bright Portable 250 Lumen CREE LED Rechargeable, Zoomable Flashlight with Clip!

Have you ever needed just a little more light to find something under the couch?  Have you ever been in your car at night and dropped you cell phone under your seat?  Have you ever heard that bump in the night?  Have you ever got up in the middle of the night, tripped over your “wife’s” shoes, then fell down the stairs, and when you got up ran into a wall, stubbed you toe, and banged you knee on the edge of that stupid oversized end table in the living room?  Well do I have the answer for you!

The OxyLED MD20 250 lumen flashlight comes in a very nice hard plastic case with 4 latches.  Inside the case you will find a nice foam lining.  The case holds the flashlight and all of the MD20’s accessories.  OxyLED includes a rechargeable Li-ion AA battery and charger.  The included charger has the flip up prongs to plug directly into the wall without having to find a cable. I prefer the flip up prongs because it is less to keep up with.

I am very impressed with the IPX-6 water resistant rating. What does an IPX-6 rating mean you say?  Well the official definition is: Protected against heavy seas - Water projected at all angles through a 12.5 mm nozzle at a flow rate of 100 liters/min at a pressure of 100 kN/m2 for 3 minutes from a distance of 3 meters.   I love the knowing that I can go out in the pouring rain and that the MD20 will continue to work perfectly.  Well, as long as I don’t drop it in a deep puddle, it will continue to work perfectly.

The MD20 uses a Cree LED, of course, with a lifespan of over 50,000 hours.  Your will find that the flashlight is made using aircraft grade, durable aluminum alloy.  This makes the MD20 feel very nifty in the hand.  The housing has a very nice ridge area for excellent grip and control. OxyLED has gone over and above with included belt clip.  You can easily see the bright orange power switch on the end of the light.  I feel the zoom function, push and pull is far superior to the twist zoom you find on other lights.  The MD20 has 3 modes: high, low, and strobe.  You can cycle through these modes by completely pressing the switch or while the power is on you can cycle through with a half press.

I recommend the OxyLED MD20 to anyone who needs a portable, very bright, well built, water resistant light.  I like the MD20 so much I am buying 10 of them for Christmas gifts this year.

Skyly Fingerprint Attendance/Time Clock

If you are looking to keep time or attendance for your small business or any other meeting then you should definitely check out the SK-C3 Fingerprint Attendance/Time Clock.  The box does not give much information and that continues with the included manual.  The manual is a one page, one side, black and white piece of paper.  I take off one star for this "manual".  You will also find a mounting plate and, a power supply in the box.  The look and feel of the unit is clean and of good quality.

Mounting the clock was very easy and straightforward.  The included screws made the job even easier.  I really like the way the mount works.  The mount allows the device to easily slid up and off the wall.  The ease of removing the SK-C3 allows for the unit to be multipurpose.  You can use the clock in different locations if needed. I have a fried that is in the heat and air business and he wants to put one in each of his vans to keep track of his techs.

Setup was moderately easy and clear-cut.  You can effortlessly add new users and give them a code as well as, fingerprint log on.  This allows a user to log in with a pin number or password instead of using the fingerprint. Downloading the file was easy as well, and import into Excel was a breeze.  I did contact the manufacture and received a full manual.  With said manual I did not come across any issues that I could not take care of myself.  I do believe Skyly should include a link to a downloadable full manual in the box.

PROS:
  • Beautiful Design
  • Ease of Use
  • Portable
  • 600 Individual Account Capacity
  • 1 Year Warranty
CONS:
  • Manual (If that's what you want to call that piece of paper)
  • Backlit Keys would have been nice
I would recommend this clock to any small office or club.  You can check the SK-C3 out at Amazon.

Great Starter DSLR Nikon D3000 ONLY $249.99!

Well, WOOT.com has done it again with an awesome deal on the Nikon D3000.  This is a 10.2MP digital SLR with 18-55mm kit lens.  This is a factory reconditioned camera, which should give it a new feel.

I have friends that have used this camera for years with great images.  A 10.2MP image can easily produce an 8 x 10 print beautifully.  At this price point it would make a great first camera for children or even adults.

The D3000 will be easy to carry weighing in at 1.5 lb with lens on.  I am an avid Canon guy and, anyone who knows me knows I am far and at $249 I can't find anything in the Canon line up.  This SLR includes a 3-inch color LCD screen to view all the settings and the image after the shot.

I can't find anything at all wrong with this deal.  WOOT could have given free shipping but $4.99 isn't so bad.  You do get a 90 day factory warranty.  I would recommend that you get out and take a couple hundred shots to insure everything works well within the first 90 days of having it.

Here is the link to the Nikon D3000

So, I did a little more research and found this great deal on the Nikon D5200 "Refurbished" for only $429.99 with free shipping.  This is a big step up for not a whole lot more money.  Check it out!

Here is your chance! Good luck.  Now don't forget if you are a member of Ebates you can get an extra 5% cash back on this purchase.

iClever Qi Enabled Wireless Charger IC-WQ12 Wireless Charging Plate

iClever IC-WQ12 Just put it down to charge it up!

I have wanted to get into Qi charging for a while.  The thought of just setting my phone down and it charging, absolutely thrilled me.  The one thing that held me back was pricing.  I didn’t want to spend over $75 not to have to plug in my charger; I just could not justify it.  My phone the Samsung Galaxy Note III, is not Qi enabled so I found the DigiYes® Qi Standard Wireless Charger Module Receiver for ONLY $9.99 and I was in business.

I have been using the Qi charging plate for a little over 2 months now and I have not had any problems.  I use a couple of different cases on my phone and still charge without issue.  That being said, as I read some of the other reviews, they have had issues when using thicker cases.  With the Note III, I place the phone dead center and it charges every time.  The way I have my IC-WQ12 plugged in, does cause a little slower charge, but nothing to write home about.  I get a full charge in about 4 hours.

I highly recommend the iClever Qi enabled wireless charger to anyone who is looking to cut the cord.  This would have been a life saver for my mother, who suffered with arthritis and had a lot of trouble with traditional chargers.  If you are looking for a great nightstand solution, you should definitely check out the IC-WQ12 wireless charging plate.

Pros:
  • ·         Nice rubberized base, keeps phone from slipping or sliding
  • ·         Compact - The IC-WQ12 can easily fit into small everyday carry bags.
  • ·         Convenience - It is so nice not to have to plug in and out the power cord.  This should prolong the life of the connector of the phone.

Cons:
  • ·         It really needs a light that can easily be seen from around the device you place on the plate to charge.  I can’t see any light when I place my Samsung Galaxy Note III on the IC-WQ12.
  • ·         The included cables are too short for me.  I would like to plug into the wall and leave the plate on my desk, but the cord was just too short.  I used one of my USB 3.0 ports on my computer to connect the charger and it worked fine.

Just a reminder: Make sure your phone is Qi enabled or you will have to buy a Qi Receiver.  iClever makes this Note III compatible unit:  http://www.amazon.com/iClever-Super-thin-Wireless-Charging-Receiver/dp/B00N77L43K/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1410808388&sr=8-4&keywords=iclever+qi or you could get the same one I used the: http://www.amazon.com/DigiYes%C2%AE-Standard-Wireless-Charger-Receiver/dp/B00GV0Q78M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410808478&sr=8-1&keywords=digiyes+note+3 that will have a review as well.

Some Models Requiring a Wireless Charging Adapter:
- Samsung Galaxy S3 / S4, Note2 / Note3
- iPhone 4/4S, 5/5S/5C
- Nokia 925, Nokia 720
- Nokia 820

FYI:  Qi is pronounced chee and here is a link so you can read all about it:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qi_(inductive_power_standard)

ASUS Makes Announcement at IFA2014 - Sep 3,2014

ASUS Corporate Vice President Eric Chen, accompanied by ASUS Design Center Vice President Mitch Yang and ASUS Senior Product Director Derek Yu, came out with their fighting gloves on.  They introduced their competitor in the smart watch ring.  I am writing this article after the Apple Watch announcement and I believe this to be a very nice competitor to it.  It has a very classy look to it and I personally like the rectangle shape.  I am a watch guy and have seen this trend in the traditional watch market as well.
